Development of Social Exclusion Scale of People with Disabilities

Abstract
This study aims to develope the social exclusion scale of people with disabilities. This scale can contribute to reduce social exclusion by providing the basic data. The social exclusion scale were developed using 8 focus group interviews with 31 participants with disabilities to development the instrument. The purposeful sample of 450 people with disabilities was conducted survey for extracting the initial factors. And then 900 people with disabilities was conducted survey for refining the factors. As a result of survey, social exclusion scale is composed of 47 items that are placed in 4 sub-domains: exclusion from material distribution, exclusion from social rights, exclusion from social participation and relationship, and exclusion due to social norm and culture. Exclusion from social rights was divided into opportunities and physical accessibility. This scale was high reliability and discriminant validity.
